And so we're going to turn these into vector brushes in Illustrator, but I did the drawing, the source artwork that is, on the iPad using Adobe Fresco and their vector brush technology, which is really cool. And this would allow you to create the base art to turn into a vector brush. Now that said, if you have an iPad, you could do an iPad to do more organic drawing. So really great exercise to go out, wherever you're at, wherever you live and look for textures, 'cause textures are great sources for vector brushes. And once you learn all of this from this course, you'll be able to create all kinds of brushes. Once I have this, all I have to do is isolate an area, turn it into a brush, here's the brush artwork, the source art, and then I can simply select a path and apply the brush to it. So I just take a photograph of it, take it into Photoshop, kind of blow out the contrast. This is a painted metal, I believe it was a door, and it just makes a great texture. If I visit an area I've never been, then I like to walk down like back alleys, because I'll find this, these really cool textures. I'm going to show you how to do it from scratch. And I'm not talking about an app, I'm going to talk about that in another movie and explain why I never use it. But if you own a smartphone, you already have probably the best tool to create a vector brush. And don't get worried about that if you don't use Photoshop a lot, 'cause it's very simple to do and you're going to see that in an upcoming movie. Now, obviously, we're using Adobe Illustrator, but we're also going to use Photoshop to create the source images that we turn in to vector brushes. In this movie, I want to showcase all the tools that will help you create and use vector-based brushes in Adobe Illustrator. That said, combining digital with analog will only enhance your creative possibilities. Digital workflows provide a greater range of exploration for creatives today than it has at any time in history.
